I sold a wardrobe on ebay yesterday and the buyer said they wanted to come and collect it today between 4 & 5 so I gave them my address and they didn't turn up. I emailed them at 6 and asled if they were coming and I have had no response. I checked their profile and some of the feedback said "Beware no payment, no collection". The trouble is my father and brother came round today to bring it downstairs which was a lot of hassle and its now lying in the hallway and I have to squeeze past it to get to the front door.

Why do people do this?! I've a good mind to email them and tell them to stick their offer and sell it to a secondhand shop.

Tell the collector that you will only sell it for £8,000, see what he says then come down to £7,900 etc until he offers you a price you agree on. If not then try and find out who bought the other sculpture. They might buy it.
Thanks tiger, its locked in the safe now!!!
I have sold loads of stuff on Ebay over many years and have had no problems with collections etc.

Tigger - I would email this buyer and politely ask if they had a problem in finding your address - ask if they would like to rearrange another collection date, at your convenience and if you can, ask for their telephone number.

I have found, sometimes there can be a valid reason for situations occurring - don't enter into a slanging match - if you want a positive outcome, i.e. them to collect your wardrobe and you getting payment, then always be the voice of reason.

If this fails, then contact Ebay.

sound advice Den and one which I would advocate. No point in bad-marking a buyer (or seller) until you have tried to sort it out between you.
boxtops if you sell anything through a paper ad you can't do that though , i thought it would be ok for cod , never done it yet always wondered why people sometimes ask for deposit through paypal now i know x ,was there any other bidders tigger , you could give a second chance offer to another person grant it the amount will be lower .
That's true cherry - I've never tried selling in the local rag, don't fancy the idea of strangers knocking at the door to look at what I'm selling!

I emailed them earlier Den but I'll wait until tomorrow and see if they reply. It's just annoying that it's blocking my hallway. I did get other offers Cherry but my dad reckons he could get more for it down the secondhand shop. I'll see what happens.
