I was under the impression that Dr. Stephen Hawking simply came to the realisation of the inherent downside of appeasing believers who ultimately seize the opportunity to use any mention of the word 'god' by a respected scientist as ammunition siting implicit support and confirmation of the existence of their chosen interpretation, like so many others that ultimately find themselves having to take a stand against the defamation of their soiled reputation and clear their good name; a heavy price to pay for the costly mistake of attempting to appeal to a wider audience for the sake of increased popularity or selling a few more copies of their book . . . but I respect him no less for coming clean in the end. I have in fact considered restoring "A Brief History of Time" to the top shelf of my bookcase . . . if I can figure out what I did with it?

As petty and pathetic as ^ that ^ may seem, I find myself wondering just how many copies of that book formally residing on church bookshelves around the world have been relegated to the garbage bin . . .

I studied a particular religion for about 30 years and it took me that long to find some things that are hard to explain from the Bible. for example those who believe the bible as 100% truth will believe the account of the Flood but according to bible chronology the flood came in the year 2370 bc and Noah was 600 years old. in all that Time he only had 3 sons who each had a wife, according to the bible it took Noah and his Family 40 years to build the Ark and warn the people of the coming Flood. So With No contraception Noah Only had three sons and in at least 40 years (it could have been Hundreds) his sons and their wives had no children. Moving on, about 850 years later the Exodus out of Egypt took place. Take into account that the Israelites were in captivity for 400 years before the Exodus, So this means that just 450 years after the Flood there were Millions of people on the earth and the Egyptians were just one of the many nations. So In Conclusion Noah only Produced 3 children in 600 years his 3 Sons produced none before the Flood and yet within 450 years after the Flood There were millions on the earth. It Just Doesn't add up.
Moswinner, Multiplying a human population by a factor of 100 or more in as many years, while highly improbable is not . . . inconceivable.

My Point above is, if Noah only had Three children in 600 years and his three sons had none in a minimum of 40 years (and Possibly hundreds of years) it seems unlikley that millions were produced in a matter of 450 years (and of course they would have been all decended from Noah and therefore all one Family!!
