Moving home

A friend of mine is looking to move home when her house has sold.She wants to check where there is a high % of crime but not just crime figures so she can avoid living there.
Is there a website where you can put in an area and read about the recent crimes that have taken place.I have tried googling this but I can't find what to look for.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for that cazzz but it's not specific enough. I put in Manchester and it came up with this.

This is a profile for the central postcode in Manchester which is M1 6DF. Neighbourhood profiles vary significantly from postcode to postcode.

I'm looking for the neighbourhood profiles as local crime can vary within a few miles.
Have tried looking at local newspapers but they don't always seem to report local crime unless it's really serious like a murder.
