If we never did any more weeding....
......would most of the UK be covered in brambles and buddleia? That's what it looks like, looking at the untended patch up the road!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.The field that we are converting into a wild garden was 12ft high in brambles, no one had been in the field for over 40 years, I had to use a chainsaw just to get through the gate, not a single blade of grass survived due to the lack of light at ground level, now that the light is hitting the ground we are struggling to keep the nettles back. We are winning slowly :-)
