suitable drawing/graphics for children

my 9 year old was amazed when she saw someone on the tv using a drawing tablet thingy (sorry - don't know what they're called) and i would love to get her one for christmas.
Does anyone know the proper name for them, and if there are any suitable for children?

For a 9-year-old (or, indeed, for anyone other than a professional designer) the Trust TB-5300 is probably as good and anything else. It's well-reviewed here:
