Should we be able to record freeview that's built into the tv?

At the moment we can't, and the recorder hasn't got freeview either. The only way we can is by recording it on sky. We no longer pay for sky but still have the box and recieve freeview channels.

PS don't come back saying why don't you just keep on recording it on sky, because it's my mum whose complaining because she thinks it's a big faff.

No, most TVs will not output the picture from the built in tuner.

Thanks, we didn't know if it was because dad had wired it up wrong.
Hi mollykins,The problem here is that you are actually talking about 2 different systems No 1 you have a tv with built in FREEVIEW, No 2 the skybox receives FREESAT signals & now that you are no longer paying Sky they have removed the facility to record on the skybox.
If you wish to record tv programmes from the sattelite dish you will need to buy a Freesat+ recorder to replace the skybox. Ron.
