Only one pumpkin on display in this village in Cambridgeshire ! And I haven't noticed any trick or treat either. Didn't stop the Parish Council from considering whether to issue "No trick or treat here" notices, a plan swiftly abandoned because it would probably encourage it! Maybe it's a town thing, though it doesn't seem much more obvious in Cambridge, a city of nearly 100,000 only eight miles away.
Apparently pumpkins here aren't imported. They come from Spalding, in Lincolnshire, an area more famous for bulb fields than pumpkin fields. One grower, interviewed on TV, grows 3 million a year and says he regrets that none of them get used for soup or pumpkin pie
