Is inteligence the be all and end all of a person?

It appears to me that if you get your punctuation wrong, make a spelling mistake etc you will get slated by the likes of markrae.
I know my punctuation is dreadful and my good lady Carakeel will often correct it for me, I can live with it without a problem. I don't think anybody is so perfect. It is a fault that can make a sentence or a paragraph difficult to read at times I'm sure.
Do people really judge a person by these qualities.
I work with a whole range of staff with varying degrees of education, some are very clearly educated to a very poor degree.
I find in my workplace that the staff with poorer education, far more caring, sincere, trustworthy, always on time and rarely off sick and less argumentative and surprisingly great organisers.
Why do some people find that putting other people down so satisfying, is it to cover up their own inadequacies maybe?
