I do not now have a copy of this crossword but I did finish it and send it in. There was one clue, about halfway down the grid, I cannot now remember it word for word. It would have been an anagram but the letters given were wrong. I put STATELINESS and the clue was something about LINES in ASSETS (anagram), but of course the letters they gave just wasn't correct. Or did I have it wrong? It certainly isn't the first time that clues are not checked before printing.
Thanks Aquagility. I see where you are coming from, but if you are correct, the wording would not flow easily, (whereas assets does - see slaney's answer) - but there should not be any excuses for printing errors in crosswords.
Thanks Kaya, that is what I have been trying to explain all along. Assets and lines is NOT an anagram of stateliness. Asserts and tastes would not make sense. A mistake was obviously made in the printing.
