Just how did Janine manage to get the car out of the way of the oncoming train and Ryan put the carrycot on the road, when in Friday's episode it was distinctly shown that the yellow barriers came down trapping the car on the lines from both sides?

You're not suppose to think about it too much...

I expected Pat to come running up to them huffing and puffing then pushing the car out of the way on her own!
The station master lets down barriers for some nookie so his wife thinks he's working.
Fat Pat to the rescue.................

The barriers bradley, went at the front and the back of the car - so she just drove straight forward ... You're right though - a continuity error.

Pinkilady, no I did not go back and check. I'm not (I'm sorry to tell you) quite that obsessive. I just remembered. In reality she would not just be able to drive forward if a barrier was in place. I know things should be taken with a pinch of salt, but sometimes little things like that stick out. Like sallabananas said, continuity error (and EastEnders make plenty of them).
the barriers only blocked one lane on each side so she could of just drove straight out
Weren't they half barriers?
oops, you weren't there when I posted danchip

I don't trust that Janine, she's losing her marbles over little Lily.

She's already done one husband in, (WARNING)

It's obvious Patsy ?, Bianca is pregnant.....how is she going to pass that off ?
Ryan got the baby out and placed her on the road side of the half-barrier behind the car.

I can't remember exactly, but wasn't it a multitrack line? In which case she could have driven it across onto the adjacent track. She certainly didn't drive it onto the road until the train had passed and the barriers gone up.
She made it out of the way just in time saxy...she shot forward a few yards & then stopped again.
Wasn't it Ricky's car? Great mechanic he is, eh?
