Assuming that the Comic Relief version outsells everything else this week, I wonder whether any other song has reached the top spot three times with completely different artists? (Doctor & The Medics in 1986 being the other) The best rendition of Spirit In The Sky I've heard has to be by We've Got A Fuzzbox And We're Gonna Use It - erm, breathtaking...

In answer to Lodekka, yes, two other songs have reached number one three times for different artists (in fact one has done it four times!): Unchained Melody (Jimmy Young, Righteous Brothers, Robson and Jerome, Gareth Gates) and You'll Never Walk Alone (Gerry And The Pacemakers, The Crowd, Robson and Jerome again).
