Bread flour as plain flour?
2 Answers
Can i use "soft white bread flour" in the place of plain flour when baking? I want to make some short bread with cocoa in so it's kind of chocolate shortbread. Does anyone have any recipes? Many thanks

9oz plain flour
6oz butter
3oz caster sugar (not granulated)
crumb together and bash about until it sticks together and knead gently until rollable. Roll out about half centimetre thick , cut into shapes and cook for about 20 minutes gas mark 3. You can add 1oz of cocoa instead of 1oz of the flour for a chocolate version. You can also make a "petticoat tail" by pressing the mixture into a round cake tin and baking for 30 minutes. Dust the top of the shortbread with caster sugar. Best thing about this dough is it tastes great before it cooks as well as after. Good luck sair5412
