Sky Sports News was removed from the Freeview line up on 23rd August.
The only way to get Sky Sports Channels (1 & 2, with the option to add ESPN if you want) on terrestrial TV is with Top Up TV. Their system require you to use a special Freeview box. (Yes, I know that your TV has Freeview built in, but it doesn't have the circuitry required to decrypt the signals). The boxes have a built-in recording facility. Prices start from £39.99 for a reconditioned box with a 120 hour storage limit. There's also a £20 connection fee.
SKy Sports 1 costs £19.99 per month. Sky Sports 1 & 2 costs £29.99 per month. There's no requirement to sign up to any minimum contractual period. (You can simply 'pay as you go'). However, if you agree to a 12-month commitment you'll get a free box (with 180 hours of recording) included in the deal.
Here's the link but don't be surprised if you keep getting 'System Error' messages. (That seems to be normal for the Top Up TV website). You might find it easier to phone them (08444 152 030, 0900-2000 daily) or send an email to
