Ivf for the terminally ill, is this a good idea?

Im watching ch 5's The Wright Stuff and on it there is a story about a woman that is dying of cancer, she has 12 months to live and has had her eggs frozen before cancer treatment and has had her friend agree to become a surrogate mother with the husband of the friend being the sperm donor. The Couple are going to bring the child up as their own and the woman with cancer's mother will be allowed access to see the child. Me personally I have no problem with this whatsoever. What about you, do you have any moral issues with this? Would you do it if you were childless and in the same circumstances?

..it seems wrong, but I can't quite bring myself to condemn it. I mean, we all have children for selfish reasons don't we? It's not some altruistic act to ensure the future of the human race - it's to satisfy our own personal wishes. - and it's not like the child will be an orphan when she dies - all shes' done is donate an egg.

If indeed this is a true 'story', I think that all involved are selfishly grasping for the proverbial "fifteen minutes of fame".

Since this was taken from a story that was on the 'The Wright Stuff' that someone was watching on Channel 5, I still can't see that it is news.

Would it also be perfectly correct to post something in News that someone had seen on the 'The Jeremy Kyle Show'?

News story = something that is reported in the newspapers, on the radio news or on the TV news.

I dont like this arrangement at all. personally if I was terminally ill why would I burden a friend to have a child for me knowing I would not be around.
