Hi, I've got a car I want to sell. It's got a personalised registration.
I want to keep the registration number but not transfer it to another vehicle at the moment.
Can anyone help me with what I need to do?
Thanks.

Thanks loooby for such a quick response. But how do I do that, can I do it on line?
its more than that i think its £80 + the £25 and that's valid for a year, check the dvla site it will tell you what to do on there
i had to go to our nearest licencing centre (northampton) with all my documents, and they did it there.
they then send you a reminder each year.
Here's the form you'll need:

As far as I can recall it costs around £80 to transfer your cherished plate to another vehicle. as loobyloo says it will also cost you for the retention fee. Trouble is the car that you are selling will need a reg plate for you to sell it with a log book showing the new/original registration. Not sure you can do that on line. We have always transferred ours with the garage when we sell the car. Google it or visit your local DVLA.

I've had her from new, one carefull lady owner, 73,000 miles on clock.

For the last couple of years just used it for dog transportation. Sadly I no longer have dogs to transport.
