I recently burned a movie off my computer to disc it was a .avi (i dunno what this means). When i tried it on all three of my dvd players it didn't work but then when i put it in the computer it worked. Why wouldn't it work on my dvd players? - It was a DVD+RW disc. Any help please, and also if you could suggest a programme i could use for free to burn these dvds onto discs correctly.

Can your DVD player play both + and - versions of DVDs (and rewritable ones). Some only play one kind. Did you create the DVD as a data DVD with just the avi file on it or a 'proper' movie etc. (this would be done through a program like Nero and have VOB files etc. on it.

Someone will probably point you to free stuff but I have Nero 6, Ulead Movie Factory and Win DVD creator to help me. Others use Roxio programs that came with their DVD writer.

PS. I'm just recording a DVD as I'm typing.
Agree with Wideboy, what you need is a programme to convert the AVI file to a DVD, the format of the disc should'nt be a problem, most DVD players accept DVD+RW - personally I use winavi video convertor, it converts a 2 hour film in approx 35 minutes (try google for a free download?).Also DVD Santa is very good - As Wideboy says, Nero is also a good one,(but for some reason that one crashes my computer when finishing burning a disc :-))so I give it a wide berth.
