Laptop question
3 Answers
Hi Guys,
My laptop screen is broken so when I switch it on, the laptop runs but screen is black.
Is there any way of getting all the files/pictures/music etc from that laptop onto a new one if I buy one, bearing in mind I can't see anything?

Plug the laptop into an external monitor.
Buy a USB hard drive caddy, remove the hard drive, fit it into the caddy and plug it into the new computer (you'll need to make sure you get the correct caddy for the type of hard drive for this way)
(depending on the age, and what laptop it is a replacement screen might be a viable option too)

"That way i can see when i put everything onto a hard drive in order to transfer everything to new laptop"
I think you misunderstood the second suggestion.
Buy an empty hard disk caddy
remove the hard disk from the laptop and put it into the caddy
Plug the caddy into your new laptop.
You will now be using the new laptop with its working screen, to transfer the files.
