Internet/tv/phone

I currently have dial up internet up with Virgin ( dont laugh ) - plus phone
I also have sky for which I pay 20 odd pounds per month .
I've been meaning to change to Broadband for a while , but just haven' t had the time to search and see what deals are out there .
Someone has told me that Virgin are good for broadband in terms of price and performance .
( The wife wants to keep sky tv )
Would it make sense to go for one service from a provider and another service from another provider - and if so who would you recomend ?
or
Get all three from one provider - and if so who would you recomend ?

I very much like Virgin tv too. Have a look at the channels they offer.

The tv on demand is excellent, I like the V+ box.
I don't have a phone line as I use Skype (you don't need a phone line to get Virgin broadband and tv) but I believe their phone service is good.

just got my first home broadband connection with sky already have tv of £40 with them but now taken broadband and phonecalls, gooodddddbyyyyyeee stinking BT.
It was worth moving just to wind up BT and they def were, they put up every barrier to us leaving them and getting sky phone line installed at a new build property for which bt actually install the line for sky, they hated it lol. I had purposely not signed any small print with BT in the last year agreeing to free calls this or that in exchange for a hidden small print contract extension. So they had no claws on us
Well sky on face value seem ok broadband works good and router easy to set up etc. Only issue was because I live in the sticks and the exchange is not owned by them or something it costs me more for my broadband and line rental.
On the tv it advertises get tv calls and broadband for £20 a month but my sky tv needs are already £40 plus the £11.99 line rental (comes with evening and weekend calls free) and the broadband is £17.99 a month. Both the line rental and broadband is inflated due to the limited exchange situation here in the sticks.
So in all I may be pay £70 - £80 a month instead of the advertised £20 but I prefer the sea view and the sky movies than to move to a city centre and just watch trisha. I would like to know if anyone actually gets it all for £20 and what tv they get for that?
Good luck searching...yet to get my first bill but lokking forward to the all in on ebill makes things easier, I think you can also check your bills through the sky tv if that sounds good to you.

Searching the NET is the best answer but be aware of download limits and posted speeds. Why pay for ‘up to 20 gb’ when you can only download at 6 gb rate. Use a Free Download Checker on the Net to determine your speed.
TalkTalk install their own equipment in your exchange which at the start is no problem but when you want to leave TalkTalk your phone line has to be reconnected to the exchange that will cost you approx £100. If you go with them, be aware that their customer support is rather sad. If you ask a direct question, one that can only be answered with a Yes/No, they just work around it; must be part of their induction training. Another thing, whoever you go with, at the end of the contract that can be between 12 and 18 months, ask for a discount to stay with them.

you say its connected through fibre optics which actually stop when the signal gets to your home.
as virgin don't bother changes the cables inside the house you won't really get the superspeed they say you will.
they asked me to upgrade to 20mb broadband and i asked the operator what speed i'd get, they told me i wouldn't get 20mb but i'd have the capability to have 20mb but it wont be no faster than i already had.
i refused to pay the extra for a so called faster service.
i just have the net off them now.
