How often should the tyre pressures be checked. Coming from a era of inner tubes where once a weeklcheck was made, what is the recommended checking interval for modern tyres. Thanks for any advice.l
Don't know if there are any proper time checks, but I personally check my tyres every 2-3 weeks.. more if it looks a bit 'spongy'. Most of the time it's ok.
It is my cosidered opinion that you use the tire pressure gauge to confirm the pressure is within the guidelines listed in the owners manual for your car. Then keep a close eye on the tyre profile and when you fillup with fuel, check the tyres, water coolant, brake fluid and battery water level.
Most tyres these days have a tread indicator which is extremely useful. Also, your car owner manual should give you a complete list of maintenance checks and at what interveral..
Spot on Toureman.......I pumped into the link you gave and, just from my car number plate, I was given what I know to be the correct pressure. Incredible, because the tyre size was also correct for my Seat Leon.
If you come from the era of the inner tube you must remember the old saying of POWER, - Petrol, Oil, Water, Electrics & Rubber. To be really safe you should check these every day before driving, but if you have a real issue with tyre pressure then purchase some indicator caps that change colour if the pressure changes, then a quick glance everyday keeps you satisfied.
Thanks for that raymondo. Have checked with my local Halford's and they don't stock them. Have Googled them and plenty of suppliers BUT there seems to be a bit of a issue with the tyres losing pressure. Have you had any problems with them. Thanks again.
