Cheap diamonds
Do you think there is any stigma attached to buying 'bargain' engagement rings? Will this eventually force other jewellers to lower their prices?

But you have to be careful what sort of diamnds they are - they may be low quality, although to the naked eye it is not possibe to tell the difference. Quality jewellers will usually use certificated diamonds, and can discuss the quality with you. I doubt that would happen in a supermarket. It all depends if you want the ring as an investment as well as a piece of jewellery.
I guess it might have some effect on jewellers' prices, but the romance of buying a diamond ring is somewhat removed by poping to Asda for it, and that is what the jewellers will use to keep their prices high.
