We knew we were in for cuts by this Government but to see students lighting fires outside Tory HQ and smashing the windows of Millbank Towers in London is, quite frankly, sickening, it's like looking at mob rule, what they expect to achieve by their thug-like actions, I don't know!

It has been known. ;o)

Oops! Bedtime ... really. Night all. x
The scale of destruction of the property was terrible, I am amazed that the Police didn't have some defence. From what I saw of it hardly anthing was done to stop the main offenders. If this is the order of things to come, I hope there will be some serious repercussions in the future.
art appreciation degrees? Like the one Prince William started out on (but backed out of)?
Don't be raining on my parade. My proposed 'Leisure studies' degree suddenly doesn't seen as important as it did.
It's tough being brainy sandywroe, quite an arduous subject. lol.
Well, I lead a leisurely life now. Do a bit of drinking and a lot of taking it easy. If there's a degree to be had it should be easy peasy . :-)
Prince William studied Art History...not Art Appreciation....
I have one in origami sandywroe, and since I retired I have quite a lot of experience of doing a lot less the same as you. In fact I was thinking I could take up a professorship and teach the subject at uni (for a fee of course). A two year subject with nothing to show at the end of it. It wll keep them off the streets, sitting in a chair watching tv, drive to the shops etc, ad infinitum. (and a bit of Latin thrown in!)
I wonder if this was also a demonstration of what the drastic cuts in Police numbers might lead to? (And whether the Met Police under deployed on purpose?)
pasta, are you suggesting art history is a better preparation for kingship than art appreciation? You might be right, though personally I think Charles I and George IV - the only connoisseur monarchs Britain has had - at least contributed a bit to the country's art heritage (despite their extreme personality defects).
I can't believe that gromit, not at the scale of the destruction that went on. It was badly co-rdinated by the Police.
If this is an example of the mentality of the so called 'cream' of UK youth heaven help us.
At the end of the day, polytechnic, university, college, whatever, why should any hard earning tax payer pay for those yobs to have an education. Lots of people have had to take pay cuts, but do you see them demonstrating about it, no, because they are glad to have a job at all in the current climate. If they were even the remotely bit educated, they wouldnt stoop so low, and if I had seen my son out there on the TV last night, he would have had his allowance stopped immediately.
The troublemakers were not the students, they were mainly the anarchist gangs that turn up at most demos. Please don't blame the students.
Surely the students understand finance; the Gov (tax payers) can't afford their education. Students can search alternative financing. Increased fees = increased costs of Uni's.
jaydah have you seen this:

It appears the more you look at what was promised the less has been delivered. Can you imagine what would be said if Gordon Brown had made this speech?

Our kids pay more so more foriegners can come here. So not only are they not stopping imigration we are going to pay for it.
