We've caved in and have decided to buy our eldest a mobile for Christmas. I just want a simple telephone and text phone as I don't want her to use internet. (She can do that at home!) I want to get pay as you go but want to know what's the best and coolest phone to get for a price range within £20 to £40?

At 10 they tend to be happy with any phone. I'd go for Nokia as they are so easy to use.

Tesco do triple credit. I topped up £20 and tesco gave me £40.

Prepare yourself though...once they get a phone a new one will be required for each birthday and Xmas..

my sons got a LG chocolate (1st son) and LG cookie on their 9th birthdays - the cookie is a touch phone so feels quite smart to them but it was only £30 odd on a deal with tesco and you get triple the credit.
I'd go for a basic Nokia from Tesco or Asda on Tesco Mobile or Asda Mobile PAYG tarrifs. As ummmm has said, Tesco is particularly generous with it's top-ups.
