Depends on what wiring was the wrong way and how good the protection is in your unit.
Was there smoke? Did it blow car fuses? What brand of stereo was it?

Smoke or smell .. fried the power supply or transistor. Then it's junk.
Fuse just gone .. probably survived the incident.
