Camera! SNAPS!

Hey all :)
Im wanting to get a camera for christmas mines getting a little old and not very good anymore.
I taking a mini photography course thingy but nothing really that high-tech. Im wanting a digital camera one that focus's, i can edit on it, i think nikon have a good one thats recently out but i cant think of the name. I'm always taking weird photos and like editing and what not!
All suggestions welcome. Taa :)
