Yes, you will need to inform Sky so that they can deactivate your card from the old box and activate it for the new one. They will do this while you're on the phone and it should be working before the call ends.

where do you get a seconhand box please?
look in your local papers classified ads, they are normally between £10 & £25, alot of people who upgrade to sky+ sell off their old boxes, I've bought 2 and have them on free sat in different rooms
I didn't know you could get second hand ones.
For a while Sky were 'phoning us up to take out insurance on the sky box. Mr ask said he wouldn't insure the box, as he is paying £40 odd per month for the sky+ channels. He told them if it breaks down he'll not bother with sky again. So far we are OK.

|As long as you do not have Sky Sports or Movies you can use any card in any box so no need to cancel or tell sky. Obviously different if HD or 3D box!
