Sorry - I put this posting in the wrong place - but here goes - a very good friend of mine collapsed yesterday morning and is on a life support machine with the above. Apparently her lungs are ok and her heart - would anybody know of anyone who came round from this. She is leaving 4 teenagers. My heart is breaking as she is only 52 years old.

my god connemmara im so sorry for you and your friends family..yes ive read that people do come around from this sort of thing...my thoughts and prayers are with you all x
Yes they do. I won't chuck loads of medical jargon around, but my Dad survived one last year (with no major lasting effects either)

All the best to your and your mate

well all the medical staff have been extremely negative and have told the family to prepare for the worst. 97% against her living and 3% coming round. I say where there is life there is hope - please God.
Conne, I won't lie. The odds of survival are not great. But she has already beaten some of them by getting into hospital alive. Every minute she is around, her chances improve.
sorry but the prognosis sounds poor going by the medical figures, but lets hope they are wrong.
It all depends where the bleeding is in the brain and how extensive this is.

It could well be a subarachnoid haemorrhage or a cerebral bleed, from an artery and this will depend upon the outlook.

Plenty of patients have indeed come round and lived useful lives.

thanks all for you wee bit of positivity. At present 14.51 she is still holding on and they are doing more tests.
We don't know each other but I'm sorry to hear this and I hope you and her family are ok and she pulls through.

it is half past nine - she died at 7.00 - good night everybody.
So sorry to hear that connemmara, our thoughts are with you and the family, may your friend rest in peace.
My Dad had a brain bleed (or "infarction" as they called it) a couple of years ago, he was in a terrible state "thunderclap" headaches, persistant vomiting, misery - he survived it and is back to work (he's 70 btw).
