No one answer, gorgeously subjective. I can't say, I'd just end up with a list. Is music a foundation of your life, has it helped when you were low and boosted you when you were high ? Does Gerontius make you cry. Cliff Richard 'Some People', Beatles 'We can work it out'.

The Album - Officium

Artist - Jan Garbarek & The Hilliard Ensemble

The first Track - Parce Mihi Domine

I implore anyone who reads this to listen to this track - The album was number one in the classical charts for ages about 10 or so years ago - I know that a lot will say this, but please listen. Perfect.

It just makes me resolve any problems of the day and is delightfully forgiving if you want sympathy or a bit of 'me time'

I could list every favourite song I have ever had over the years (and my list would go on and on) If I had to rate these songs, I would have changed the rating for each song hundreds of times and I would never have been satisfied.   Not any more!!!

I can say without any doubt whatsoever that in my opinion the most beautiful piece of music ever, is

Only in Dreams

written by Rivers Cuomo - Weezer

From the album - Weezer (The blue album)

In a Pickle

You are so right

What a wonderful piece - There really is no complete answer - just more to remember

I'm not normally a great listener of Classical but I think it fits the bill when talking about beautiful music.

I like Barber's Adagio for strings, Einaudi's Le Onde and Debussy's La Mer.

Thanks people, I am definitely going to search out and listen to every suggestion made which I haven't already heard.

If you've not heard "Exsultate Jubilate" (Mozart) the Emma Kirkby version, try to find it, it is perfection.

I have just listened to a scrap of Parce Mihi Domine on amazon. An album to buy, today if I can find it.
