6 across (_A_T) appears to be EAST...explanation anyone? Also 21 down(T_T_R) Is that TUTOR-SICK? I am unable to find the reference. Thanks for all assistance.

Elsewhere, note that Wikipedia has an incorrect spelling if you search by character, but the correct one under the author.

Actually, I think that it's the spelling under the author that's incorrect (assuming the Porject Gutenberg text is accurate). I wonder which the TLS is expecting.
