"Operation Gunpowder Storm (2005) (working title)
(In post-production)
Harvard graduate and ex-Marine Guy Fawkes, (Johnny Depp), returns to the Old Country to aid the Cause of his distant Catholic cousins in their fight against evil tyrant James Staqquart the VIth Jr. of Scot Land.
Now declaring himself James I of all England (not just the Scotch part), James Stuart VIth, (Alan Rickman), is intent on destroying both the Catholics and Puritans, and the values they hold dear.
Fawkes plots to destroy the evil monarch and his despotic Parliament and bring Freedom and Democracy to 17th century England. Aided by Florrie Miggins, (Scarlett Johanssen), the beautiful daughter of a local pie-shop owner, they set about secreting the explosives they need in the basement of the Senate House of Parliament.
Using the skills he learnt in the Marines, Fawkes has rigged the explosives to the Big Ben clock, and primed them to blow just as the King and his cronies take their seats for the annual Bonfire Night Parliament Parade.
Meanwhile, fellow plotter Robert Catesby, (Samuel L. Jackson), has been captured by the evil Mayor of London, (Robert Carlyle). Will he be able to hold out against vile torture? Or will he reveal the names of his fellow freedom fighters?
The fuses of Englands biggest time-bomb have been lit and the hands of Big Ben count down the minutes to the explosive finale. Will Guy Fawkes complete his heroic mission, or has Catesbys betrayal sealed his fate?"
Thanks for your answers. I still have a video of Gunpowder, Treason & Plot which is great. It does seem odd that this event has been virtually ignored by film makers. I would have especially thought that it would have been filmed in the 50's or 60's when many historical subjects were tackled (albeit inaccurately most of the time)..
Brachiopod, please tell me what you've posted is not true. It sounds awful. Especially Samuel L Jackson as Robert Catesby, he doesn't strike me as the type to play a Northern Catholic recusant.
I'll post my Hollywood screenplay and cast list for "Wembley 66 !! " if you like.
You may know the story - a brave band of all-American heroes on a foreign shore, beating all the odds to defeat the evil Al Qaeda XI 4-2 in the final of the World Soccer Series?
