i can't remember this poem...

it starts out (ironically) with lines where the author is struggling to remember some story, about a mythical monster who eats the world and the lesson is supposed to be that all the world people perceived to be there was nothing, inside this monster, but then the poem ends on a brillantly hopeful note with some nod to the fact that love exists. what poem am i trying to remember?
