Brake Pad Squeal
I had new brake pads fitted to my 2007 VW Jetta yesterday. I was advised to let them bed in for 150-200 miles with no harsh braking.
All was going well until this afternoon a kind lady wasn't looking where she was going and forced me into an emergency stop to avoid an accident.
Now they are squealing at low speed. Can anything be done or do I have to replace them again? The noise is driving me mad.

Gutted! I might just replace them, can't stand the noise.
As the fluid piston is now all the way back in, due to new pads having been fitted, would this be an easy one for me to do? Is it just three bolts and a clip or should I take it back to the garage?
Sorry for all the moaning but I am cheesed off, finally got my car all fixed and then something like this happens.

I always put a smear of "copaslip" on the back of brake pads to prevent squealing.
I would have thought most garages would too.

If you had them done at a garage .. go back and ask them what brand they were .. and where they source the service parts from.
10:1 it's from a Motor Factors .. who will supply a common or garden brand.
If you complain to the garage about the noise .. and demonstrate .. they should replace them. Use Textar .. or Girling .. or ATE

Thanks very much for the answers. I took it back to the garage on Thursday and they told me that it was just that they were bedding in. They gave them a clean up and they stopped squealing.. for almost 24 hours.
I watched while they were cleaning them up and they are 'unipart' pads. I'm going to cut my losses and take it to main dealer for replacement pads, and treat it as a lesson.
Thanks for your input everyone
