and they haven't invited me yet...:(
dundee is pretty cold
Do the midges still bite even when it is cold? I've heard these Scots are hardy types so it might apply to the midges as well.
p.s. I thought it was cold down here. I've just turned up the heating and got my blanket with sleeves out. Cosy!
the midges migrate to Ireland in the winter

Peterhead the most easternly point of Scotland was pretty darned cold -went to the Peterhead v Cowdenbeath match and for the first time ever I had to bail out just on half time brrrrrr. They won 2-0 so all good !
Helen -I envy you -Islay is stunningly beautiful -one of the most beautiful places ive ever been and thats not just in Scotland.Wrap up well but it wont be as cold as where ive been,Enjoy -and have a wee Bowmore on me:)

At this time of the year would it not get dark up there about 2 o'clock? A floodlit match?
Dris (digress, sorry) my sister's taking a 5-day train holiday in May up the West Coast, will there be midges then? She's concerned already!
If the midges migrate to Ireland in the winter then that's the place to avoid.
well the type "A" midge goes to Africa, only type "B" and "D" go to Ireland

Im sorry for being tardy -phone call.
sandy -first thing we noticed as it happens was the floodflights were on from the start as it happens- unless youre there you cant tell people how early dark it is up north !
boxy -i'd doubt it BUT we often have our best weather in May-still a tad early I think tho.
Helen -we love it there.Great place to have ties to.We went in the town yesterday and it was a ghost town-sadly I adore the harbour -the trawlers are the size of cruise ships although you wouldnt guess-there were a few taking the same pic -it was stunning.!
Steg -up the Saintees!
Nice golf course at Cruden Bay

I am a St Andrews grad (like the royal couple) - didnt meet any girls from Marlbrough College though. I guess the place was still unisex then...

Plenty of nice flog courses all the way from St Andrews up the East Coast to Royal Dornoch/Carnegie/Golspie/Brora/Tain up or near the Dornoch Firth
