I asked a simple question about whether this person had been banned and it seems to have been removed.
He was a person whose political ideals clashed badly with mine but I thought otherwise he was (is ?) a good contributor.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

I think Qs about who's been banned and who hasn't tend to be removed on more than one website, possibly because they're seen as a private matter concerning the poster and the site administrators. If he asked for his threads to be removed, that's his business. If he didn't, it's the Ed's.
Who knows if this thread will survive the night.

Hi jno, with respect - I fail to see how a question about who has been recently banned (or not) is an infringement of privacy.
I don't see why we should not be allowed to know who "is now banned".
Surely if someone has recently been banned, then it should be known here (as well as the reasons for the banning) as an example maybe ?
Why the cover up ?
It's a separate issue to ask why my original question has a) gone unanswered b) been deleted.

I was about to post on that thread when it vanished. When something is removed for no obvious reason-it then leads to more questions. Maybe better for the Ed to leave the original query, and let the curiosity run its course.
I also wonder how such a thread can go so quickly-in light of the fact that the Ed admits he cannot 'see all'....so is its removal due to other 'eyes' on here?

I thought I had posted on this thread last night but I can't have as I was already in bed, but anyway,
Noth3 is sound as a pound and noone should be removed from AB for using an ID in a different topic to CB if they are not causing any bother, I know for a fact that several ABers use alternative ids to ask more personal questions in other topics ,on more sensitive subjects than 'what's for dinner?' 'what are you drinking?' and 'Who was booted off X-factor/strictly?'
The ed I am sure has already achnowledged this. (no link tho sorry)
Anyhow, whatever the debate was that Ianfielding started, (I can't remember it) any susequent response from the OP or a contributor should be taken in the context of the thread.
No idea whether my thoughts on it have any merit but Noth is a straight up ABer from good stock lol
