I can remember when a child would tell a parent "I want a wee" and it wouldn't cost more than a penny. Now it's "I want a Wii" and it costs a fortune!
;-)
As boxy say's Gaye used to be a fairly common girls name, as it is now a very good friend of the bosses now always uses her midddle name of Janet, as she says she got fed up with the funny looks after meeting people and saying "Hello I'm Gaye" Gay when I was a kid meant you where happy not bent as a nine bob note
I like it in one of the Tony Hancock series, he was talking about the war "When London was gay" (happy and carefree) I think it's probably more gay now!!!!
And Harry Secombe singing "Am I ashamed the good lord made me gay" He didn't mean the modern version though did he? Ah Happy days (not gay you will note). But you can't go back, only forward and if we did go back they wouldn't know what we were saying anyway. Words always change.
