I'm trying to charge my iPhone through my laptop. I plugged the white cable into a USB slot and it connected with the phone but then it keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting itself, as if I keep pulling the wire out and putting it back in again. I have tried putting it in another USB slot but it keeps doing it. Is the problem likely to be with my phone, the cable order the laptop? It's driving me nuts and I don't have the plug to add to the cable with me so cant charge it the normal way.

Our cables (we have 5, have an iphone and ipod each plus a spare cable) have all started to break where the cable connects with the plug at either end..its hard to see till you look but if the cable is breaking and joining that may be what is causing it.
Woofgang probably has it right but one question. Do you use a protective case with your iphone? Sometimes these can stop the cable fully connecting to the iphone which would give the same symptoms. If you have a case on your iphone, take it off and reconnect the cable and try again
