This is not going to be answered satisfactorally unless you can tell us what connections are available on the television. Really, the best you can hope for with the PS2 is the component cable which has 2 red, 2 white a green and a blue connection and if you are trying to couple with a modern LCD/Plasma screen then that cable should work just fine. At the moment you're using a scart connection which is rubbish quite frankly and sounds like it's not plugged in properly.
the cable that has a scart at one end and plugs into the ps2 at the other end is the only cable that we can get the ps2 to work with that tv but it only works in green we have a cable that has 6 colours at the end to fit in the tv but the tv only has the holes for the yellow white and red sockets so i cannot use the 6 coloured wire i have tried to get an adapter but i can not find one anywhere do you have any ideas chappers oh and by the way it is plugged in very well.
