Review sites

I live in Milton Keynes Buckinghamshire, I am looking to get a conservatory. Does anyone have any company recomendations for this area? Or is there a review site for conservatory companies? Like there is tripadvisor for travel.

The only site which review builders, etc, seem to be open for abuse by the companies which are being reviewed, i.e. by submitting their own recommendations. So I was a bit sceptical when I read these:

However it looks as if the company has simply copied (apparently genuine) comments from their customers, which can be viewed by clicking on the forms shown here:

I'd recommend asking to see the originals of those forms (where the addresses haven't been obscured) and checking with their customers about the validity of those comments. (Possibly even call round to take a look at the conservatories!). If they're as genuine as they appear to be you might want to consider that firm's services.

So I'm certainly not actually recommending that company (which is fairly close to you) but it might well be a good starting point. (Incidentally I've searched the web for anyone criticising that company and I've not found anything).

Do you know anyone who has a conservatory locally? If so, ask them their opinion.

There's no harm either in knocking on a few doors where houses have conservatories, maybe along your own street. I think you'll be surprised at how open people will be.

Personally, I'd never get a conservatory again. Nothing to do with the people who constructed it, more to do with usability. Even with blinds and special glass it's almost unusable in summer due to heat, intensity of light and glare. The rest of the year it can be too cold, even with the central heating extended to the conservatory.
