Weeing in public
5 Answers
Serious question guys! (im sure you will take the p**s anyway, not literally though). Im sure im not the only one who 'suffers' from this, but i find it really hard to go to the toilet and use a urinal in a public place while there are other people there. I just tense up and get all nervous and cant go. Anyone else have this, and anyone know how to get over it?

To answer your question directly, you are far from alone but (and here it would be interesting to have input from the ladies) so far as I am aware this is an exclusively male issue because of the physiology involved. We have to concentrate on releasing the urine to a more complex degree than women and hence we can get distracted and not work the levers, valves and switches correctly. Self consciousness is a definite spoiler in this case. On the other hand, if my observations are typical, women need to do little more than bend their knees and it is a bit like "pulling the plug" on the toilet. It never ceases to fascinate me to see my wife let go fractionally before her bum hits the seat. She, however, gets bored waiting to get to the toilet if I have beat her to it when we arrive home - she can't understand why I don't finish in one go rather than messing about with some final squirts - hers works a bit like a basin drain. Like I said, it's physiology.
The thing you're going through is a vicious circle...you cant go because you're nervous, this tenses up your muscles that control your bladder. Because you cant go, you become even more nervous, and it goes on. Try overcoming it by just relaxing and imagine yourself by a waterfall. Works for me! Hope this helps
