Ovulation
11 Answers
Bit of a personal one here but I need some advice. Having decided to try for a baby I came off the pill last December. Since then I've had a period in February (4 days) and another at the beginning of April (2 days). Have had no period since. I have done two pregnancy tests and both have been negative. I realise 6 months is not a long time but the sooner the better as far as we are ocncerned! Can anybody shed some light on what I have to do to keep a temperature chart so I can try to work out for myself when I am going to ovulate? I am healthy and am trying to keep relaxed about the whole thing but it doesn't help when I don't know when my periods due. I'm 30 by the way. Thanks a lot.

good luck h, i've had similar frustrations but have the babies now. patience is the most important thing to learn, now and during and after pregancies. judging by the experiences of me and other mums i know, its not unusual for bodies to take a year or so to get back to normal after being on the pill, your body temperature does go up when you ovulate, but it's only by a degree or so and checking for that everyday can be frustrating too, relax and keep practicing!
Thanks to everyone who replied. Have been to docs and he told me it will probably take a while for the pill to get out of my system. Was going to buy one of those ovulation predictor tests but I think you only get 5 tests and as my cycle is obviously out of sync at the moment I didn't know if they would be any good. Thanks very much for all your advice. Hopefully we will have some news soon!

What you have already received probably covers most or all of the relevant points. However, let me add my little story. When my wife and I had been trying (well, expecting pregnancy to occur and being happy if it did - the first two came about fairly quickly) for a year or so, we saw a specialist. After establishing I was not firing blanks he gave us a drug which is supposed to add predictability into the ovulation cycle. Because I was about to go away for a spell, we decided to wait with (her)taking it. When I had been away for a month or so she told me in a telephone conversation that she was pregnant (he must be mine because he is almost a carbon copy of my appearance). She returned the unopened packet of tablets to the specialist - his reply was "You wouldn't believe how often exactly this happens". Good luck.
Thanks again for your replies. It sounds as though I just need to relax, enjoy myself and wait and see! Just one more question now. Does anyone get the obscure football joke ( getting a monkey off my shoulder ) ??????? ha ha. I haven't got a clue what it means!! Can anyone shed any light on this for me??!! I guess it's something rude..........
