When in the menstrual cycle do woman ovulate

I have had and read so many conflicting things about this. I thought it was 14 days, give or take a coupla days into the cycle but does that mean 14 days after the last period has stopped or after the start of the last period.

I just need to work out my cycle now..I thought I was having 28 day cycle, having had implanon implant removed in early march,I have had 3 "normal periods". However, at approximately day 14 of last cycle I started to bleed really heavily (much more than ever before) and it lasted for 5 days.
Any ideas why this would be...and does it mean that I need to recalculate when im due to bleed again...its all so confusing..lol..

i would have thought that, as with any hormonal contraceptive, it will take a while for your cycle to become regular.
You might get on with charting your temps to find out when you are ovulating if you are trying to conceive.
there are many online sites which will host your charts and explain things

I know a few women who have charted on here http://www.fertilityfriend.com/

The average day to ovulate is 14 days before your period. The first day of your cycle is the first day of your period. So if you have a 28 day cycle you ovulate about day 14. If you have a 30 day cycle you ovulate about day 16.
If your cycle isn't totally regular, you just have to have lots of sex and hope you get roughly the right day!!
