Dr has suggested researching Champix as a means to stop smoking. Any feedback would be appreciated.

He hasn't touched another in 2 and a half years, but he had just had a heart attack so he was determined to stop. I tried it a few months after him, was sick to my stomach every morning and am still puffing away 2 years down the line. I think it can work if you are mentally ready to quit, but it's not a magic wand - if you still want to smoke you will.
HI Sarah, They didn't have pills and things in 1960 when I stopped smoking and just giving up and going cold turkey was too much of a strain so I tried weaning myself as follows:-
Pick a day or a weekend when there are no parties, meetings, work or stress.
Day 1, go for an hour or so after getting up then light up, have 2 puffs of the cig and then PUT IT OUT and save it. I believe two puffs will satisfy the immediate craving without feeding the addiction.
Never goes less than the initial 1 hour or so before having another 2 puffs on the rest of the cigarette then PUT IT OUT an save it.
Do the above for 2 or 3 days and then extend the time if at all possible between cigs (2 puffs) but NEVER reduce the time in between.
Eventually the time between cigarettes ( 2 puffs only) will get to 24 hours and you have stopped smoking. The urge will still be there possibly for a few weeks or months but extra strong mints will help with that.
The above method worked for me and other members of the family and could be an alternative to the many other ways of stopping.
Best of Luck. and think of the money you'll save!!!!
