How do I enable Adobe Flashplayer 10?

I keep being denied access to sites because I'm told that I don't have the up-to-date flashplayer installed.
I have installed Adobe Flashplayer 10 several times - so it tells me! - but it still does not appear in the list of programs installed. It does, however. appear in the programs listed in Add or Remove Programs, though it has no size denoted and no 'Remove' tag.
If the program is installed, how do I enable it? Help gratefully received.

Uninstall it first using the flash removal tool and reinstall. There must have been a problem with the first installation. Instructions below:-

Which browser are you using? Internet Explorer uses a differently coded version of Flash to other web browsers. So, for instance, you could have Flash for IE installed, but be trying to use Firefox. If you use IE and another browser, you need both the IE and non IE version of Flash player for them both to work for it.

Unless you have Google Chrome of course which has the latest version of Flash player built into it.

Thanks, Mobius. Not sure that I understand that or what I can do about it.

TTG, when I try to uninstall flash it says it can't do it until I close Windows Messenger. How do I do that, please?
Right click on the windows messenger icon by the clock and select exit.
