How long will it be before the governments of the world wake up to the fact that all of our problems are being exacerbated by the reckless expansion in the world’s population.

Sandy that's what Malthus basically said, he thought that there were 'positive checks' such as disease and war that reduced the earths population making people's lives easier and 'negative checks' such as good weather for better crops that helps people and often promoted a growing population.

Basically, the human races success is it's downfall, in a nutshell.
