Because some people are idiots. And some people are overly sensitive so are hurt easily etc... I think most people are fine and the ones that are unplesant are not worth spending any energy or time on if possible.
In today's society? At least people can come on this site free to ridicule people of religious belief without impunity, which just over 400 years ago would have bought them a one-way ticket to the stake (the Tudor equivalent of the winter heating allowance).
what mike said^^^. Sometimes it seems that the people most eager to exercise their own right to freedom of speech are also those most disdainful of anyone else having rights. But I could be wrong, of course.
I truly think some people are born without the compassionate gene, have encountered one today. Not sure whether to pity them or not, maybe they have an easier time of it?
My whole family dont have the compassion gene...Im always there for them, yet when i need help or a shoulder they cannot be bothered....selfish springs to mind.
I often think the 'hateful and spiteful' gene is stronger than the 'compassionate' gene......either that,or hateful people make more noise,so we notice them more. They've always been here-nothing new there. But at least humanity has become a wee bit more civilised-what with human rights being focussed on. It's just getting the nice bits of human nature to make themselves known that is often difficult.
I will endorse that Donna, I find with the work I do people can be very hurtful, the only conclusion I can come to is they put their Mouth in gear before their brain is engaged, I am often out with our Service users & the snide remarks we hear would make you cringe, people do not seem to or want understand it can happen to them at any time & it has.
some people are just nasty....................but some people are nice, and with experience you are able to "spot the difference ", just check out this site at times.
