Gunk in the Washer Bottle

Is there anything I can put in the windscreen washer bottle which will eradicate the rather stringy gunk that's in there which keeps blocking the squirty holes?  The car is second hand and I assume someone has been putting washing-up liquid in the screen wash.

They probably have but even so the gunk can easily be mold/bacteria which will eventually block your jets.  I would think that any modern screen wash will kill it and disperse it eventually.

It's quite a simple job to remove the bottle to give it a good clean. Any half-competent DIYer could do it. Got one handy ?
