I have been on you tube for the last half hour, listening to their songs.
They are one of my fave bands and it is amazing how timeless their tracks still feel

i also think their cover of Elvis Presley's falling in love with you is another ub40 classic
Kingston Town ... many others too.
I like their early, original stuff. Can't stand their covers - what a waste of talent...

No doubt you're referring to the song "Food for Thought"...
The name "UB40" was selected in reference to the document issued to people claiming unemployment benefit from the UK government's Department of Health and Social Security (DHSS) at the time of the band's formation. The designation UB40 stood for Unemployment Benefit, Form 40.

My fav's are:
Kingston Town
Falling in Love With You (Elvis)
Red Red Wine
The Train Is Coming

Im a big UB40 fan and have seen them live many times. The early stuff is certainly their best in my opinion and Signing Off is a cracking album which still sounds great today, Present Arms and Present Arms in Dub are cracking too.
King and The Earth dies screaming (12" version) are my faves.
I think they are still the best selling reggae band in the world but now Ali has gone his own way im not sure how it will pan out for the rest of the band who i think are on (or about to) go on tour again?
