Can anyone tell me a sensible rough price for a car service. Been checking out local prices but they vary from £104 to over £200 for a full service. Seems like a big difference to me.
Depends on the type of service you want on your car Milly, if you want genine parts putting in place or suitable parts? do you take your car to a dealer / agent you will pay high costs due to their overheads, depends on the engine size of your car, take your car to a local family garage & ask the FULL PRICE before you say yes. in the region of £150.
Thanks TWR, I just had a message from my brothers friend who turns out to work for VW (my car is a Golf) and he is going to come and do a full service with spark plugs, etc and diagnostics for me tomorrow for £120. Wish I knew who he worked for before now. Seems to be a good price to me and and he is a family friend, I can trust he won't rip me off.
Hi Milly, don't forget to ask him about the service book? this SHOULD be done at a VAT reg garage! But he might be able to do it !!!!!! this in-turn increases the value of your car.
I dare not answer that molly, but I think you know what I mean, as regards your car washing, A dirty car is a car that will cost you money if you neglect it! Take note.
Remember TWR that not that many people buy cars new - If Milly's car already has a somewhat patchy service history whether or not the service history is documented probably won't make a ton of difference.
Hi Jake, I do understand that, if the car has had the essentials, can belt, belts, Emission test, Dia, + Compression tests & checked + certs, should the car be sold on in the future it would help the buyer & satisfy them that the car had come from a good seller.
