Was just about to post sqad - interrupted by work. Honestly!
The Prof was impressive - he didn't say he would 'try' to make her better, he said he 'will' make her better & I believe him. He said her immune system has really taken a battering - first of all with her urticaria, then her eczema, bowel problems & lately her umpteen allergies. He's going to tackle them all one by one, starting with the urticaria.
To cut a long story short, he's going to blast her with antihistamines & steroid creams - the antihistamines on a long-term basis. He seems to think it will all take time (he said she should have been referred to an immunologist at least 3 years ago.... tell me about it, we tried) because her problems have become severe, but he is hopeful she will get better & her immune system will recover.
I came away a little more optimistic, though I know it will all be a slow process & she won't recover overnight, but this is the first medical man she's seen who I actually believe has properly listened to her, taken her seriously & understands thoroughly her problem(s).
I could cry. She has had increasing & escalating problems for the last 10 years - it never should have got to this stage.
