Has the world gone stark staring mad?

I had no choice but to go to Tescos today. Queuing to get in the car park, fighting over trolleys and then people buying mountains of stuff as if the shops are going to be closed for a whole month!

I admit to having lost my rag. I admit to having treated the experience like a smash and grab raid and just got the absolute essentials on the basis I could not stand it for a moment longer than absolutely necessary.

Why do we do this? Is it Christmas? Or is it a combination of this and the bad weather?

I had shopping delivered today and another lot on coming on Thursday (really don't fancy taking all the kids to the supermarket this week) and a friend's husband is picking up the turkey crown thing and a ham when he goes for their stuff. Husband has got the crap end of the stick as we haven't bought any presents yet so he has to get them all, take them back to his showrom and wrap them for me (stroke of genius on my part I think!).

We will borrow my pals granddaughters, give 'em a list and retire to the cafe. They go at it like a couple of well trained sheepdogs. Sorted.
I remember when the Archbishop of Canterbury was talking about Christmas in the Uk a few years ago. He said "If the Martians were to land on Earth tomorrow they would think humans worship at Tesco" Says it all really.
