Where has the sidebar gone and how can I get it back?

I have just noticed that the right side of the screen looks like it has been chopped off by about 1cm.I cannot actually see the windows sidebar anymore!!
This probably has something to do with the kids but of course they don't know anything about it.Please can someone tell me how to get back my sidebar,I didn't know how much I used it till it has gone.

you need to click the compatability icon. it should be on the right of the bar when you type web addresses. the symbol looks like a broken page.

I know the symbol you mean,just realised that's gone too!
What the flip have them kids gone and done

have you tried closing your browser and opening again?

Yep.Its odd,it looks like the 'picture' is suddenly too big for the monitor.I have had this problem for a few weeks now that I think about it,one of them things that I kept forgetting about,but now I know its missing(well about 1mm visible) I want it back!

Sounds like they may have made the screen larger by Ctrl +. Try pressing Ctrl -

Nope,that made everything smaller,but the sidebar is just the same.Its OK when not using the internet,but with both firefox and IE8 its just gone!
This is going to bug me now.....

What do you mean by a windows sidebar? What does it have on it?

You know the bar at the side of the screen that you can use to scroll up and down the page by clicking on the bar and moving the thing up and down.At the very bottom there is almost visible a blue diamond shape with a key in it(its to do with cool preview preferences)but half of it is missing.

Just thought I would give you an update,might come in handy for someone with the same problem.
I now have my sidebar back!
All I had to do was alter the resolution from 1400x900(the pre set recommended setting) to 1400x1050.Now every single bit of screen can be seen!
Obviously icons are a bit smaller,but somehow it looks more like what I am used to on my old PC.
